Every year it comes and goes and it’s the closest excitement in terms of fireworks that we get here in Cape Town, courtesy of Guy Fawkes. There were many spots allocated around the city to go view the fireworks. This year, we chose to follow the Redbull ZA race in which people had to go vote and it was between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. Voting began a while back and ended yesterday. The city in the end that received the most votes would be lit up first courtesy of Red Bull. Of course, Cape Town won that race!
Unfortunately for me, I picked not the greatest spot to capture the fireworks with a large ship in my way – how inconvenient. But still, being surrounded by the amazing atmosphere that is the V&A Waterfront, good company and a good cup of hot chocolate, I wasn’t complaining too much.
I snapped away however but thought I’d also share some of my (inconvenient) images as well as images by others in the Mother City from their different view points. Firstly, here’s one below by Craig Kolesky (followed by my inconvenient ones).
Below are some stunners taken by St. John Lombard at another good place for fireworks in Cape Town, Maiden’s Cove.
There’s something magical about fireworks. It should happen every night. Lx
